Biography
James M. Miller (Jim) has been a licensed Florida attorney since 1984 and a licensed Texas attorney since 2018. Jim moved to Texas from Florida in 2018. He served in the US Air Force between 1986 and 1990 as a JAG, with an emphasis on procurement law. From 1990 to the present time, Jim has been involved in insurance defense practices and his own private general practice. Although not licensed as a mediator in Texas, Jim was a licensed circuit civil mediator in Florida for over 10 years.
While involved in insurance defense practices, Jim has handled full and complete case workup, including trials, in both the first chair and second chair positions. He has defended slip and falls/trip and falls claims, motor vehicle injury claims, professional malpractice claims (including dental, medical, nursing, realtor, attorney, architect, and engineer), products liability claims, construction defect claims, premises liability claims, negligent security claims against apartment complexes, as well as other negligence type claims against an individual, the small company and the big corporation. Jim has handled cases varying in value from a few thousand dollars to in excess of several million dollars.
In his private practices, Jim has handled both litigation and non-litigation matters in the areas of probate, guardianship, real estate, general corporate, and other general practice areas of the law.
Over the years, Jim has given in-service presentations to medical professionals (including doctors, nurses, and dietitians) and to insurance company employees, including adjusters. Over the years, he also has presented seminars/discussions on estate planning, probate matters, and homeowner association issues.
